Turning Crisis into Hope

Residential Treatment Center

(Program in Development)

Overview

For many families, severe behavioral challenges can feel overwhelming and isolating. When outbursts, aggression, self-injury, or elopement disrupt daily life, the fear of law enforcement involvement, incarceration, or even tragic outcomes can become painfully real.

At Amazing House of Hope, we believe no family should ever face those fears alone. Our Residential Treatment Center is being developed to serve autistic young adults experiencing severe behavioral challenges and emotional dysregulation. The program will provide a highly structured therapeutic environment designed to restore safety, stability, and hope for both individuals and their families.

Through evidence-based therapeutic interventions and individualized care plans, our model focuses on identifying the root causes of behavior, not just managing symptoms. By understanding behavioral patterns, neurological factors, sensory needs, environmental triggers, and emotional experiences, we aim to create targeted interventions that lead to lasting change and greater independence.

Amazing House of Hope also seeks to collaborate with universities, clinicians, and research institutions to advance the understanding of complex autism-related behavioral challenges and to contribute to meaningful autism research.

What Makes Our Program Different

A Structured 12-Step Behavior Program

Our structured 12-Step Behavior Program guides residents through measurable stages of growth focused on self-regulation, accountability, and independence. Each stage builds on the previous one, helping individuals develop the skills necessary for long-term success.

A Root-Cause Approach to Behavior

Many programs focus only on behavior management. Our model goes deeper by identifying the underlying drivers of behavior, which may include neurological, sensory, emotional, environmental, relational, dietary, or trauma-related factors. Addressing these root causes allows interventions to be more effective and sustainable.

Specially Trained Clinical Staff

All eligible staff are certified Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and trained to support individuals with complex behavioral needs. This ensures consistent, evidence-based care delivered by professionals who understand autism and behavioral science.

Peer Mentor Program

Peer mentors provide connection, encouragement, and positive role modeling. By walking alongside residents through the program, mentors help build confidence, practice coping strategies, and reinforce progress in both behavioral and vocational development.

Integrated Behavioral and Vocational Programming

Our program combines evidence-based therapeutic interventions,  including ABA, CBT, trauma-informed care, EMDR, speech therapy, and occupational therapy with sensory integration, with individualized vocational training. This whole-person approach prepares residents for meaningful participation in community life.

A Multidisciplinary Team Approach

Care plans are developed and adjusted collaboratively by a team of specialists. Behavioral professionals, therapists, and vocational trainers work together to monitor progress and refine strategies in real time.

A Compassionate, Home-Like Environment

Clinical excellence is balanced with warmth, belonging, and dignity. Residents live and learn in a supportive, family-style setting that promotes trust, joy, meaningful relationships, and the development of everyday life skills.

Family Partnership

Families are active partners in the process through education, training, and ongoing collaboration. Strengthening family understanding and involvement helps ensure continuity of care and long-term success beyond the program.

A Comprehensive Transition Continuum

Our stepwise transition model supports growth from intensive residential care to independent community living.

  • Level 1: Residential stabilization and skill development

  • Level 2: Structured aftercare with real-world application of skills

Each phase is personalized and supported by a multidisciplinary team to promote lasting independence.

Independent Living Community

Beyond residential treatment, our vision includes an Independent Living Community where residents continue building life, social, and vocational skills while gaining real-world experience through on-campus employment and community engagement. This pathway helps individuals move from intensive care toward purposeful, independent adult living.

Turning Crisis Into Hope

Specialized programs offering the appropriate services can save lives and offer a real chance for a future. It can help prevent incarceration, minimize crisis interventions, and prevent the heartbreak of a potential loss. By addressing behavioral challenges with understanding rather than punishment, we give young adults a real chance to live fulfilling, productive lives, and give families the peace they’ve been searching for.

Lack of Services

Due to limited services to assist this vulnerable population, caregivers do not have the appropriate options to ensure their loved ones get the help they need. This is a real concern.
